On Top of Huntsville
This was the first time photographing this wonderful family. And was I in for a treat! They live up on Monte Sano with an awesome view of the Tennessee Valley area.

I had a great time chasing around this little guy for his one year old session! With having a girl, I forget how much more active little boys are. We ran all around the church and its many courtyards. One thing I can count on, his older brother always has a big bright smile for the camera (such a ham)!
Approaching her second birthday, my daughter and I began to really butt heads. Since day 1, she has never let me photograph her willingly. Even in the terrible twos stage, it’s very difficult which is why I’ve put off taking her Two Year Old photographs. While taking my sister’s engagement session in Auburn, I was able to capture a few of Kate as she was sitting with my sister and her fiancee. So for those of you who stress over your session, I completely understand. In fact, I rarely even attempt a session with mine because of the results. I pretty much take whatever I can get whenever I can get it with her and thought I’d share the only one I’ve gotten since she turned two.
During one of my trips to Atlanta, I had the pleasure of following this little guy around the golf course to catch him in action. I can’t get over how adorable he is! Such fun!
I always enjoy shooting on location. But I must say, I was a little shaken to find out that we would be heading down to the Maple Hill Historic Cemetary in Huntsville. What a hidden gem! Not only did it provide a great backdrop for the portrait session, but it was neat to see the old grave stones – some from the Confederate soldiers. Thanks for opening my eyes to a new location to shoot at (and for being such a great model)!
I forgot once again to bring bug spray with me to a session in Downtown Madison. How I keep forgetting, I have no idea. Somehow we escaped with only about 10 bites or so (sorry guys)! Also, I told Miss A. that we should see a train while there. But unfortunately, they appeared to be working on the tracks up the way so no train. Sorry about that!
I really, really enjoy photographing toddlers! You may think that’s crazy, but it’s like getting a workout while working while playing … have I lost you yet? Anyways, this little guy certainly helped me burn a few calories, and we had a great time playing. AND, don’t you just LOVE his blue eyes! Happy (belated) Birthday Baby/Tot A.!
Whenever a client asks if their child is the hardest ever to photography, I always chuckle and say no. Why? Because MY CHILD is by far the MOST DIFFICULT to photograph of anyone’s. I took her to downtown Madison for her 18mo session. While my normal sessions last 45 to 60 minutes in length – not Kate’s. It lasted a whopping 12 minutes before she was DONE. Had it, no more. But, the few I got are near and dear to my heart.
Downtown Madison has turned into a bit of a hot spot! I had a great time capturing Miss K. as she turned one year old. I love her expressions, and she is one of the easiest going babies that I know! What a great time I’ve had capturing her images over the last year. Thanks guys!
“Watch Out!” was a common phrase on this Saturday morning for more than one reason. First, the swarms of mosquitoes had us constantly moving and swatting and everything in between. I even had to Photoshop one off of the photos! Secondly, this little man was on the move. Good thing I’d had a cup of coffee before heading out to downtown Madison to shoot! He was a lot of fun to follow and capture at this benchmark in his life. Happy Birthday Mr. H!
